インタビュー 安瀬リカ

Q: What made you decide working on the Narnia movies?

A: Because I've never done a film like this before. And I like the challenge of it because I would watch the Harry Potter movies and the Lord of the Rings movies and I said, “How do they do those movies? How do you do movies so big and so complicated with visual effects and special effects and different camera units and so on. So I wanted initially the challenge then I wasn't sure that we can pull it off. So I had breakfast with Andrew Adamson before we started and I just said, “How do you make this book into a movie?” Because I read the book again but I didn't, I wasn't sure how to do it. And in an hour and half breakfast, I totally believed that he was the right person directing it. He said very interesting thing to me. He said, “I don't want to make a movie based on the book, 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. I want to make a movie based on my recollection of the book, 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.'” So it really is the marriage of C.S. Lewis' book and the imagination of a nine-year-old boy, a nine year old boy who read it and just imagined what it would, you know, what it would look like. And that's…… The more he talked, the more I was convinced, not only he was the right director but the movie could work.
